Hope for Ugandan Teenagers

Providing HOPE is key to transforming lives.

Shakan Global Mission USA and the Shakan Mission Uganda team are working in Jinja, Uganda to provide hope in various ways.

HOPE is…
SCHOOL SUPPLIES, SANITARY NAPKINS and JESUS.

HOPE is…
EVERY STUDENT HAVING A PEN AND NOTEBOOK in order to learn.

In Uganda, even public schools are not free.  Many parents struggle to pay for school fees AND school supplies.  The school next door to the Shakan Mission Center and Guest House welcomed the Shakan Mission Uganda team to distribute notebooks and school supplies to students in need.

HOPE is …
PROVIDING JOBS FOR MOTHERS to feed, clothe, and provide their children an education.

Purchasing these notebooks also supports moms. This book binding business was started this past year by Arise Women Empowerment Center – Africa  (AWEC) to empower women through employment.

HOPE is….
Hearing the HOPE FILLED GOSPEL and experiencing the LOVE OF CHRIST through the supportive staff of AWEC.

HOPE is…

  • EDUCATION  RETENTION – A teenage girl being able to attend school during her menstrual cycle when her parents are unable to afford sanitary pads.
  • DIGNITY – The gift of sanitary pads prevents young girls from exchanging sex for pads.

Teenage girls give thanks for receiving sanitary pads.

$5 PROVIDES a TEENAGE GIRL MENSTRUAL PADS FOR 3 MONTHS.

In the future, we would like to provide reusable sanitary pads made by local seamstresses to provide jobs and reach more girls in the long term.

HOPE IS …

SHARING THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS’ LOVE and SALVATION at a school assembly. The administrators, teachers and students welcomed the Shakan Uganda Mission team and pastor.

16 teenagers received Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

We are grateful to be able to share the good news of Christ, especially in a public school!
