Brief info

Mariam has played a vital role in the birthing of Shakan Global Mission.

Mariam’s ten year career as a banker combined with a heart for empowering vulnerable women led her to start women’s savings groups in 2017.

In September 2019, Mariam took a leap of faith as a single mother of 3 children. She resigned from her position as a Banker, and followed God’s call for full time ministry. A mutual friend introduced Mariam to Rosie at this time.

Since the Fall of 2019, there has been exponential growth of women who joined savings groups, who desire to start businesses and are seeking emotional/spiritual support. Small beginnings blossomed into Arise Women Empowerment Center-Africa (AWEC), a Non-Profit Organization (NGO) established in 2022.

AWEC has provided a platform for teams of short term missionaries to come to the Shakan Global Mission Guest House to serve women, children, and families. Together, AWEC and Shakan Global will be God’s vessels to cultivate thriving households and communities.

What Our Donors Over the World Are Saying

I am excited to be partnering with Rosie on this kingdom endeavor.  I look forward to interceding in prayer as well as one day going to Uganda to physically be a part of the mission.

I’m grateful for being able to volunteer using skills in the USA to bring transformation to families across the ocean. I look forward to going to Uganda as a volunteer someday!

Dreams are being reignited in both Uganda and in the USA through Shakan Global Mission. What a blessing to support this work financially!
