Guest House Beginnings
2020 TO PRESENT
Just before the global pandemic lockdown, I had the opportunity to purchase 1 acre of land. After many affirmations through prayer, wise counsel, and circumstances, the Lord clearly confirmed His will when I opened up the bible to Jeremiah 32, which was entitled:
Jeremiah Buys a Field
The Lord instructed Jeremiah to purchase a field even though the siege from Babylonians was imminent. The Lord told Jeremiah that the deed was a sign that houses and vineyards would be built and Israel would be prosperous once again.
This was the clincher for me. Three Ugandan friends and wise counsel from Marketplace Development Enterprise in the USA assisted me with the purchase.
January 2020
While I was praying about the best use of the land, I was invited to a facebook group of missionaries serving in the same town of Jinja. There are currently 350 missionaries for this city alone! They are serving various organizations to provide high quality education, medical services, business development, spiritual growth, domestic violence prevention and other social development arenas.
Thus, the seed of building my home and Guest House on this property was planted to host short term workers to serve local organizations. Teams of people who love Jesus multiply the impact in transforming lives.
When I stepped into Stanbic Bank in Jinja, Uganda, my eyes were immediately drawn message on the wall behind the customer service desk – a better tomorrow begins with investing in agriculture. I felt such a strong affirmation of the initial vision of providing jobs for women to make products with essential oils.
Although the Guest House is the primary focus of Shakan Global Mission, the initial idea I received about employing women to make essential oil products is still alive as a part of the long term vision.
As essential oils are integrated into the daily life of the Guest House products and essential oil trainings take place (i.e cleaning products, insect repellant, etc), I believe discussions will take place to network for agricultural development and manufacturing for essential oil products. What God created to promote mental and physical health can also provide jobs for families to rise above poverty.
During my Fall 2021 trip, the idea to establish a non-Profit organization in the USA came through prayer. In February 2022, Shakan Global Mission, Inc. was incorporated with this vision —
To cultivate spiritual, physical, economic and social transformation of families and communities for God’s glory in Uganda and around the world…
Spreading the fragrance of Christ
