#2  Exploratory Trip to Empower Women

In the Fall of 2019, I embarked on a 7 week exploratory business trip.  A friend introduced me to Mariam Namusabi, who had just resigned from her full-time job as a banker to dedicate herself to empower women through savings groups and business support.  This was the beginning of Arise Women Empowerment Center – Africa (AWEC), which is now a registered Non-Government Organization in Uganda, with Mariam as the Director.

Highlights of our 7 weeks together include:

  • MALARIA PREVENTION – Trained over 100 women to make an insect repellant to help prevent malaria.
  • BUSINESS CONNECTIONS – Networked with biology/chemistry researchers, Farming God’s Way, and like-minded business owners who have a passion to promote abundant life in Jesus through the plants He created and economic development.
  • GOSPEL PREACHED – 1 Salvation, many forgave others for deeply hurting them, and seeds of the gospel message were planted among Muslims.
  • HEALINGS – Jesus healed many ailments through prayer – including skin disorders, back pain, leg pain, burns, and a lump completely disappeared.

Mariam and I jumped for joy as we saw the Lord transform lives.  We both knew the Lord was calling me back.
