The Child Sponsorship & Community Empowerment Program is Launched!

THANK YOU to all the sponsors who have committed to support 11 children and impact their community.

At the end of the first day of school, the children and Parents/Guardians met at the Shakan Global Mission Center Prayer Garden to learn about the Child Sponsorship Program guidelines, receive school supplies, and to pray.

The women were provided information on joining a local women’s organization that provides support with business/savings skills and emotional/spiritual support.

UPDATE 3/6/24 ALL 31 CHILDREN profiled ARE SPONSORED!  A special thanks to a generous donor who stepped in to temporarily sponsor 10 children until other sponsors come forth.

TESTIMONY CORNER

Increase in attention and academic performance!

Last year, the Shakan Mission Uganda team distributed sanitary supplies to teen girls at the school next to the Mission Center. In a recent visit, the Headmistress beamed with gratitude as she shared the news that the attendance and the academic performance of the girls who received the sanitary napkins greatly improved.

Thank you to all the donors who are changing the lives of teen girls!

THE TESTIMONY OF JOY FILLED TWINS

These adorable girls (Katrina and Mukisa) showed up the first few days of school even though their mother was unable to pay for their fees.  The headmistress of the school describes them as joyful, even though they have very little.

RESPONSE TO SPONSORSHIP NEWS

After sending the newsletter last week with the posting above, two sponsors came forth.  When the twins heard the news, they were ecstatic!

One turned to the other and said, “What shall we do?”.

The other replied,

“LET’s DANCE!

Gift of Peace for a Dying Grandfather

Dorothy is an orphan.  Her grandfather has sold all his land to raise his grandchildren. He is now under hospice care.

When he heard that Dorothy was chosen for sponsorship, he uttered with a sigh of relief, “I can now die in peace, knowing that Dorothy can continue her education.”

Dorothy is one step closer to achieving her career goal of becoming a lawyer – thanks to her sponsor.
